Year-Round Rowing and Enrichment Programs
Our summer camps are designed to expose as many new and returning kids to rowing as possible. We offer year-round rowing for returning kids only (all those who participated in one of the summer camps and are therefore “experienced”). This includes an opportunity to race at the Chicago Sprints in July, rowing two-days per week in the fall and spring, and indoor rowing and racing in the winter. We provide “life skills” talks and presentations in partnership with ETHS Rowing. We also offer 1-2 field trips per year, e.g. to the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry. Our goal with the year-round programming is to create a safe, fun, and inclusive team environment where kids continue to hone their rowing skills while building friendships, confidence, and resilience.
Free Camps are Just the Beginning
We are here to row and reinforce the lifelong skills that come with fully engaging in this sport, but there is so much more we offer along the way. We want every NCCR “graduate” to get all the support they need – academically, emotionally, and physically – to feel more empowered as they move on to high school, college, and out into the world. Whether that’s homework help, tutoring, swim lessons, counseling, or simply a cultural field trip that expands someone’s horizon, we’re on it. If you have a recommendation for an enrichment service you’d like us to offer or that you can provide, we’re all ears. Send questions and suggestions to sandy.culver@nccrowing.org.
